About the event

Obbligato brings together past and present through the fusion of historically informed interpretation and newly created music. This project is the result of a collaboration between ‘El Parnasillo’ and the composer Manuel López Jorge. The cornerstone of the project is the genre of the sonata for violin and harpsichord obbligato, established by Johann Sebastian Bach with his magnificent six sonatas. M. López Jorge proposes a re-reading of this genre with his ‘Sonata Artúrica’, specially commissioned for this project by ‘El Parnasillo’.

El Parnasillo is formed by Marta Ramírez (violin) and Eloy Orzaiz (harpsichord/fortepiano), musicians from Navarre specialised in the historical interpretation of the repertoire for violin and historical keyboards from the dawn of the 17th century until well into the 19th century. Parnasillo was consolidated in 2015 and since then has been carrying out intense concert and pedagogical work, mainly in Spain and France.
